Frequently Asked Questions

How much is the Defensive Driving course?
Total price will vary depending on the court you received a ticket for. Please click HERE to get total cost.

How do I register for the Online Traffic School?
You must register online. Click HERE to register.

How long is the defensive driving course?
Classes are required to be a minimum of 4 hours and not longer than 4 and ½ hours. The time for the online registration doesn’t count towards the minimum or maximum time.

Can I take a break during the course?
Yes! You can log in, and log out during the course. When you log in, the system will take you back to where you left off. And the timer will continue where you left off, once you are in a chapter. However you must complete the course no later than 7 days before your court date. So be sure you allow yourself enough time to finish before you reach that deadline.

Can I begin the class immediately after I register?
No. We must manually review and verify your documents you provided us, and we have to check your eligibility BEFORE you can start the course. Once we have verified your documents, and we’ve checked your eligibility we will send you an email letting you know you can start.

Is it really going to take 24 hours to review my documents?
Usually not. We usually review documents within a few hours or less. If you are in a rush, please CONTACT US, so we can rush your verification.

We says it can take UP-TO 24 hours for us to review your documents in the event you are a Juvenile and/or have a Criminal Violation that would require us to contact the court.

It’s been more than 24 hours and I haven’t received the email letting me know I can start, what’s going on?
Some email providers may place our emails to your SPAM folder. Please be sure you add our email to your contacts so you can receive future emails from us. Also, log into the site, and once you log in, if you see a "Launch Course" button, then your documents were verified, and you can start. If you still don't see the "Launch Course" button, please CONTACT US.

When do I need to complete the course by?
You are required to complete this course no later than 7 days before your court date (or extension date). For example, if your Court date is February 8th, you must complete this 4 hour course no later than by February 1st before 11:59pm Arizona Time.

Is there anything I need to do after I finish the Defensive Driving Course?
We will report your course completions to the court by electronic means. However, if you had more than one violation (e.g. "No Insurance" or "No registration"), please contact the court to take care of the other violation(s) directly with the court.

Do I need to submit my Certificate of Completion to the court?
No. Your Certificate of Completion is for your records only. It is a confirmation that we have reported the completion to your court.

What is the Defensive Driving Program?
It is a court administered program which presents traffic safety classes through court certified commercial schools (like us). The program provides Court, Defensive Driving Board and Certification information.

You should contact the court of jurisdiction in that state to see what they allow or require.

I hold a Commercial Driver License or drive a commercial motor vehicle that requires a commercial driver license, am I eligible for the Defensive Driving Diversion Program?
No. If you hold a commercial driver's license you are not eligible for the Defensive Driving Diversion Program, regardless of whether you were driving commercially at the time of the violation. In addition, those driving a commercial vehicle requiring a commercial driver's license are also not eligible. The only exceptions to this rule are: 1.) if the violation occurred before the driver held CDL status or 2.) if the violation occurred after the driver surrendered his or her CDL status. For further information, view A.R.S. 28-3392.

Can I change my mind after I elect to attend the defensive driving course?
Yes, only before starting the course. Once the course begins you give up your option to go to Court and for a refund of your class fees.

Can I get a refund?
Once you begin the course, all fees are non-refundable. If you have not started the course, the course fee and processing fee are non-refundable after 3 days.

The court diversion, state fees and state surcharge shall be refunded when:

  1. A student pre-pays for a defensive driving course, does not begin the course and does not contact the school to reschedule for a future course. The school shall refund the court diversion fee, state fee and state surcharge 30 days after the scheduled defensive driving course date or upon notification from the student the student will not attend a course, whichever is first;
  2. An officer fails to file a citation with a court and the cited person attends a defensive driving course for that citation. Upon notification by the jurisdictional court, we (the school) shall notify division staff a refund is requested. Upon written approval by division staff, the school shall refund the court diversion, state fee and state surcharge to the student; or
  3. A citation is dismissed by a jurisdictional court on its own motion, for technical problems not correctable under civil traffic rules of court.

Do I qualify for a discount on my insurance premium?
Some insurance companies will provide their customers a discount for voluntarily attending a defensive driving class.

What if I lose my certificate of completion?
Simply log back into the site, with your email and password, and click on the "Download Certificate" link.

May I take a defensive driving course for point reduction on my motor vehicle record?
No.

May I take a defensive driving course for more than one violation?

If I experience problems while taking the class, what do I do?
Please Contact Us.

Can I get an extension?
You MUST MEET ALL THREE of the following criteria in order for us to grant you an extension:

  1. Your court is listed on this list: click here to see a list of these courts.
  2. You have NOT been issued an extension before
  3. You have AT LEAST 7 days (or more) before your court date
If you, meet all three of these, please REGISTER, and once you registered please CONTACT US and request an extension so we can provide you one.

If your court is not listed on this table, or you need an additional extension, or you have less than 7 days before your court date, you must contact the court directly and ask them for an extension.

My extension says this is the last extension, and no other extensions will be granted. Is there any way to get another extension?
Even if you have been provided with a letter that says, "This is your last extension, the court won't grant another extension", it is a good idea to still contact the court and explain why you need another extension, and see IF they will grant another one. We’ve had many students get additional extensions even after receiving that same letter from the court.

Your registration asked about a “Court Order”, which should I select, "Yes" or "No"?
If you don’t know what a "Court Order" is, select "No".

I've been ordered by the Motor Vehicle Division to attend a "Traffic Survival School" or they will suspend my license. Is this the same as a defensive driving class?
No, Traffic Survival School is for individuals who have received more serious violations or have an excessive amount of points on their driving record.

Can I be ordered by the court to attend a Defensive Driving School?
Yes, courts do have the right to order a person attend defensive driving school, but in these cases the class is not for dismissal of the violation.

I completed the class, but the citation is still on my record. What should I do?
If the citation is the one for which you attended a defensive driving school, call the court of jurisdiction and ask them to correct the problem.
